Quality Chinese food that is reasonably priced. Egg drop soup is good as is the sweet and sour chicken. Server was friendly....overall a good experience. We will be back...

Because of the location of this restaurant to my home, I thought I would give it try instead of my old standby, Lotus Pond. Boy'o'boy was I disappointed. The meat in the Pepper Steak was very chewy and fatty, the chicken in the Sweet and Sour Chicken dish was rubbery and tasted like it had been sitting around since the previous day's food service. Even the forturne cookies (which were NOT individually wrapped) tasted stale and just "different". The Egg Drop soup was tasty, however, I was not given and Fried Won Ton strips to go with my soup. I'm hoping that this is not standard practice for this restaurant. Overall, the experience was not a good one. I know that everyone has their favorite when it come to Cantonese food but I can say with convication that House of Chan will never be mine.

Very polite, fast and some of the best Chinese food in the area. Just can't find good places like you use to ya know!

Seriously disgusted. Our sweet and sour chicken looked and tasted just like our General Tso chicken. Both swimming in an unnaturally thick red goo. Two bites in and I couldn't eat any more. We were also given brown spotted lettuce for our lettuce wraps. Guess we'll keep looking for a new Chinese restaurant...

All the food we had was good, but none of it was hot. None of it. Soup, lukewarm. Egg roll...warm. Main courses...not even close to being warm. It was a very busy Saturday night. Service was very good, and food came out quick...but NONE of it was hot. If they are so busy, yet the food is lukewarm it leads to one main conculsion....precooking everything and keeping it in warmers. Our sweet and sour chicken was warm, and being heated by the sweet and sour sauce. I like to think from all the good reviews that we caught it on an off night....but I really dont think we will be back.

I have eaten at this restaurant since it opened. It used to be really good. We ordered a carryout last night and it was horrible. I had shrimp egg foo young and it had no flavor. The gravy gave it the only flavor it had. The rice smelled like moth balls and tasted really weird. After all these years of eating there, we probably won't be going back.

Excited we have found a decent Chinese place close to home! We have been looking for ages and all we had to do was look in our own backyard! Eggs rolls rock & soup is good (even reheated!). The service is efficient and very attentive. I will be back!

Very nice menu and the food was great. We had Chinese and Thai and enjoyed both. The egg rolls were a hit with my family. Friendly customer service and the restaurant looked and smelled very clean. We will definitely be back!!

Likely the best Cantonese style food on the east side! Very clean restaurant inside. The lunch specials are very affordable, with most under $6 for a combination plate. Food is always nicely prepared and very fresh each time. I grew up going to the Canton Inn, but ever since ownership changed several years ago, the food there has been horrible.

Awesome food, good service, and the CLEANEST chinese restaurant I've been to here in Southest Michigan. This is the only place I will ever go to for Chinese, Cantonese, Mandrin, Szechuan, food. They recently added a Thai menu and their (#T-11) Kow Pad Nam Prik Pow (fried rice w/ your choice of chicken, beef, pork, shimp, or scallop. w/ green peppers, onions, carrots, green onions, eggs, and roasted chili paste.) is delish. It's my new favorite dish there. Their Pork Lo Mein is very good too. It's not mushy nor greasy at all. I highly recommend this place if you're ever in the area and want some Chinese. The only bad thing I can say about House of Chan is that they don't offer free pop refills.

I've been going here for as long as I can remember. I love their chop suey. I've never eaten in the actual restaurant but my mom tells me it's even better than carry-out.

Food is pretty darn good, especially sweet and sour chicken. Atmosphere is great, service is great, and the mini Budda statues they sell are interesting. Definitely will go back their some othertime!

I've been going to this restaurant since I was 12. Now that I've moved away from Michigan, I make eating here part of my family visits. Yes, it's that good. Very good egg rolls. They're not spring rolls like some places, they are homemade, huge and delicious. I travel a lot, and I've tried chinese food across the country, and this place has the best egg rolls. The Egg Foo Yung, Won Ton Soup, Lo Mein is delicious, too. Heck, everything I've ever eaten here was super yum. Service is great, atmosphere is pleasant (huge open restaurant) and it's very clean. Trust me - You won't regret eating here!

Ordered 2 Almond Boneless Chicken dinners and most of the chicken was too tough to even cut with a knife (obviously microwaved), so maybe that's why they saturated it in gravy...which in all our years of ordering Chinese take out the gravy was always given to us on the side in a container. The fried rice had no flavor as well. So disappointed as we have ordered from here several times. She was quite rude on the phone as well and stated that it's the way the do it (saturating the chicken in gravy...which by the way is not on their menu). I took it all back and she didn't argue with me there, she politely returned our money, but then she said something in Mandarin or whatever language that most of us do not understand as I walked out the door. They most definitely lost our business!!! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place, there are plenty of other Chinese restaurants who care about the quality of food they serve!!!

The servings are huge, and the interior of the restaurant is spacious and clean. The food is pretty typical of take out Chinese food. The General Tso's is good. The last time we ordered here, the food was a little off. But it's still pretty good.

House of Chan is a solid choice for Chinese takeout. I have had a few of their dishes and they are all ample in quantity, and tasty in their presentation. Their menu is classic San Francisco chinese food, the kind most Americans expect and appreciate. Nothing wrong with that, just saying don't expect to impress anyone from Asia, nor will you find anything exciting/unusual on the menu. Just a straight ahead Chinese takeout. Friday night pigout food. My one knock is the newer Thai menu. It is not well done. If you want Thai food, there are much better choices. Stick to the Chinese menu here...

Good food. Clean restaurant. Friendly staff. Homemade egg rolls. Probably the best Chinese on the East Side. Try it. You will like it.

It is hard for me to rate a 5 star for any Chinese restaurant because they are so eerily similar, but this one is the type of Chinese that I have grown up to love. Although I have had better "deep fried" chicken dishes (sweet and sour, sesame, etc.) the batter was flavorful and the sauces are excellent. Overall the place meets my expectations for that craving of Chinese food. Will definitely be going back.

Food is great, service is good. Sometimes the food isn't warm enough and I found out why from an employee there after ordering their orange chicken.... they pre-make their chicken the day of and they heat it up when you order (this is why when you call in your order they literally whip up the dish in 10 minutes or less). Also, if you like your food spicy, their "medium" isn't really spicy enough so I would ask for spicy. Also, I usually hate egg rolls but this place makes a delicious /fresh egg roll. Price is fair for the amount of food and quality you get. Recommend you to give it a try.

Probably the cleanest restaurant I've ever been to. The waitress was phenomenal!!! The service alone was enough to make us want to go back, but the food was also good. I had the Crab Rangoon, wanton soup, almond chicken, fried rice, egg roll and fortune cookie (I'll be eating the same meal tomorrow since I have so much left over). The Crab Rangoon, soup and cookie were some of the best I've had. The rest was good but pretty standard. My husband and boys (5 and 10) had Pad Tai and loved it. My boys can't wait to go back. I highly recommend this place!

Great food . We ate here about a month ago and had a take out meal. it was fast and the food was piping hot when we got it. Especially the crab cheese. We ate those in the car on the ride home.

They have good service and the restaurant looks clean. the food looks great but smells really weird and tastes funky. I ordered the spicy shezwan beef, that's what I used to get from another place. I wouldn't order this meal from this place ever again.

Good service. Decent prices. Mostly bland food. General tso's chicken was not crispy. Wonton soup was bland. Nothing special done with the fried rice. Just plain all around

I used to frequent this restaurant about 10 years ago, then I moved away from the area and by the time I moved back I had forgotten about it. I have been craving Chinese food for awhile now, so I went back to this place after reading horrible reviews of other restaurants that are closer to my house. I was not disappointed! I had the Sweet & Sour chicken combo- came with tea, rice, soup, and egg roll for under $10! It was fresh tasting and everything was good and service was good as well. I will be back!

Let me start by saying this is one of my wifes favorite places to eat. She went online to allmenus.com/mi/sterling… and ordered over $60.00 in food. Part of that order was the understanding that if she ordered 4 orders of egg rolls she would get 8 in total. We only ended up getting 4 and was given no receipt. Not a huge deal one would think until you call to explain and get a rude server who explains it's your fault not theirs, then puts you on hold suddenly to speak with the manager. The manager was nicer but still really wanted to let me know that what's on the website is not their fault etc. instead of simply asking what they could do to fix the problem. The way this was handled and the clear disrespectful tone is the reason I gave them 2 out of 5.

Being lazy and a college student I am familiar with every Chinese restaurant in a fifteen mile radius. I've tried them all but House of Chan is like everything wonderful in the world i.e. cancelled classes, free coffee, and sleeping past noon. Jean the owner knows my order by heart so when I call I just say hey Jean its Tori. Their menu is diverse, the food fresh and they are just awesome people. My only two gripes are that when you dine in the soda refills are not free (but lets be honest your getting Chinese food to go so you can sit in comfy clothes and marathon Netflix...or is that just me) and that they add a dash of cinnamon to their egg roll filling. Its not bad tasting it just isn't my favorite and I love me some egg rolls.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
